Shane earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biology at University of Virginia in 2006 and his Master of Landscape Architecture degree from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2013. He is focused on new shared street typologies as well as overlapping methods of movement within an urban context. This focus is heavily influenced by his time working for Jay Griffith Landscapes in Los Angeles and West 8 in Rotterdam. Shane joined Nelson Byrd Woltz in September of 2013. He used his his time and various projects at NBW as a platform for testing new theories, primarily through the firms plazas and urban parks utilizing 3D software, advanced rendering techniques and 3D printing technology. In 2017, Shane launched STUDIOPLAATS - a multidisciplinary firm focused landscape, architecture, urban and industrial designs. Additionally, Shane has enjoyed teaching AutoCAD, 3D and rendering skills to students at RISD, New School, Pratt, Goerge Washington University and Texas Tech.
